Start Up and Youth Entrepreneurship

At school we can inspire, educate and expose young people to the opportunities for St Helena and the exciting and challenging world of running a business.

The SHDA has a crucial role to play in providing the necessary start up business support at this critical stage and to encourage young people interested in setting up businesses in areas of demand and priority sectors.

If you are between the ages of 16 -25 and interested in starting your own business - SHDA's 'Youth Start-up Programme' offers the following package:

  • Access to pre-start online training, and one to one advice

  • A pre-start test marketing grant of up to £250, subject to availability each year

  • A business advisor for at least 2 years ( SHDA or mentor)

  • Book-keeping training and a free book keeping system ( SHDA/Other)

  • First years annual accounts provided free of charge (SHDA)

  • A low interest loan of up to £2,000, subject to availability each year

  • Networking opportunities with other businesses
