Promoting and Enabling Inward Investment

A joint promotional campaign with the UK Government's Department for International Development (DFID) and St Helena Government (SHG) will be developed to coincide with the airport contract which is anticipated to begin during 2009. In the meantime, the Agency's business advisors are keen to help potential investors understand the current policies and procedures involved and assist with navigation through the various stages of decision making. Each case will require different considerations.

New legislation, regulations and policies are expected during the next two years and we would therefore recommend that you contact one of our business advisors as early in your considerations as possible. This will limit the time and costs involved.

The majority of investors will need to apply for one or more of the following:

You will also have the option of applying for Approved Investor Status prior to the commencement of your business activity. This offers a potential tax holiday for up to three years on condition that your business venture begins to trade no later than 12 months after the airport becomes operational. It also offers some exemptions on Customs and Excise Duties.

St Helena is a safe, warm, attractive, friendly and SOON TO BE CONNECTED place to do business. A unique opportunity!
